Drosopkinin from Drosophila melanogaster (gene CG13480) is a member of a larger family of neuropeptides known as leucokinins in other invertebrates. Drosokinin (NSVVLGKKQRFHSWGamide) (referred to also as Drosophila leucokinin; abbr. DLK, or Drm-kinin), has been identified by Terhzaz et al (1999). Synthetic Drosokinin stimulates fluid secretion in Malpighian (renal) tubules and also elevates intracellular Ca2+ in the Malpighian tubules.
