Drosophila melanogaster 60A
A Drosophila melanogaster gene encoding a secreted protein that belongs to the family of transforming growth factors (see: TGF-beta) (see also: gene family) (Du et al, 1996; Doctor et al, 1992). For an Anopheles stephensi homolog of 60A see: As60A.
The gene, CG5562, has been renamed gbb [glass bottom boat] and has been shown to be involved in proliferation and vein patterning in the wing disc (Ray and Wharton, 2001).
