[endothelial colony-forming cells] This term refers to a cell type found in human peripheral blood (Ingram et al, 2004; Lin et al, 2000). These cells are known also as EOCs [endothelial outgrowth cells], OECs [outgrowth endothelial cells] and BOECs [blood outgrowth endothelial cells] (for overview see also: Hebbel, 2017).
