ECK
[Epithelial cell kinase] The cDNA encoding this receptor protein tyrosine kinase has been cloned by Lindberg and Hunter, 1990) who also named it ECK. Another designation for this receptor is EphA2 (see: Ephrins).
ECK mRNA is overexpressed in melanoma cell lines (Easty et al, 1995). Levels are significantly higher in cell lines from distant metastases than primary melanomas; melanocytes are negative. The ligand for ECK, which induces autophosphorylation of ECK, is B61.
