A mouse monoclonal antibody (Dijkstra et al, 1985) against rat spleen cells that reacts with a membrane antigen in monocytes and in most macrophages. No other cell types except cells of the mononuclear phagocyte system are positive for this monoclonal antibody. The antibody has been used widely as a general marker for macrophages.
