(approved gene symbol) [epithelial membrane protein-2] This membrane protein is related to EMP-1 and growth arrest-specific gene gas-3 (Taylor and Suter, 1996). Wang et al (2001) have isolated the murine homolog. Ben-Porath and Benvenisty (1996) and Ben-Porath et al (1998) have referred to the gene as XMP, pointing out that it is related to EMP-1 [epithelial membrane protein-1] (see: B4B) and PMP22 [peripheral myelin protein-22].
