This is recombinant human endostatin expressed and purified in Escherichia coli. Unlike other recombinant forms of endostatin reported in the literature, Endostar contains an additional sequence (MGGSHHHHH) at the N-terminus. This histidine tag simplifies the purification and improves the stability of the protein (Ling et al, 2007; Song et al, 2005).
It has been approved in China for the treatment of non-small-cell lung cancer. Ling et al (2007) have reported that Endostar suppresses the proliferation, migration, and tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells stimulated by VEGF.
