Enterovirus non-structural protein 2B

[Enterovirus 2B protein] The Enterovirus genus belongs to the Picornaviridae family and includes poliovirus, Coxsackie virus, enteric cytopathogenic human orphan virus, and human enterovirus 71 (EV71). These viruses encode the 2B protein in their genome, which acts as a viroporin (for overview see also: Ao et al, 2014).

Coxsackie B3 virus 2B protein (CBV3 2B protein) has been shown to act as a viroporin, increasing plasma membrane permeability and inhibiting protein secretion by mammali8an cells (Van kuppeveld et al, 1997; de Jong et al, 2003, 2006).
