This peptide (KDEPQRRSARLSAKPAPPKPEPKPKKAPAKK) comprises amino acid sequences 17-48 of HMGN2 (HMG2(17-48) or HMGN2(17-48)). It has been identified in a phage display cDNA library screen for peptides that function as tumor homing peptides, especially those that home to the tumor vascular endothelium (Porkka et al, 2002). F3 peptide has been shown to bind specifically to nucleolin expressed on the membrane of cancer cells, neovasculature, and endothelium (Christian et al, 2003).
