FGF18

(approved gene symbol) [Fibroblast growth factor-18] This protein is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family of proteins. The cDNA isolated from rat embryos encoding a protein of (207 amino acids. The mouse and human counterparts display a high degree of amino acid identity (99.5 and 99.0 %, respectively). FGF18 is most similar (52.7 % amino acid identity) to FGF8 and FGF17. FGF18 is a glycosylated protein and has a typical signal sequence at its amino terminus.
