FNDC4

[fibronectin type 3 domain containing 4] This protein, identified as Frcp1 [Fibronectin type 3 repeat-containing protein 1] by Teufel et al (2002), shares 57 % amino acid identity with FNDC5 in the functional, extracellular domain. Human FNDC4 is 100 % homologous to the mouse protein. The extracellular N-terminus of FNDC4 can be released from cells by shedding.

FNDC4 is expressed at low levels in heart, skeletal muscle, and adipose tissue, but expression is highest in liver and brain. FNDC4 expression has been found in activated human neutrophils, monocytes, and macrophages, ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
