FSP-1

[fibroblast secretory protein-1] The gene encoding this protein has been identified bty Strutz et al (1995) in a comparison of murine fibroblasts and isogenic epithelium. Expression is relatively specific for fibroblasts. The FSP-1 gene encodes a filament-associated, calcium-binding protein. The promoter/enhancer region driving expression of this gene is active in fibroblasts but not in epithelium, mesangial cells, or embryonic endoderm. Polyclonal antiserum raised to recombinant FSP-1 protein stains the cytoplasm of fibroblasts, but not epithelium. In kidneys fibrosing from persistent inflammation, many fibroblasts ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
