[FXPRL family peptide]
Members of this family, often referred to as FXPRLamides, are characterized by the presence of a conserved FXPRL (Phe-X-Pro-Arg-Leuamide) carboxyterminus. These peptides comprise a major neuropeptide family, which are actively involved in many essential endocrine functions. For some examples see: PBAN [pheromone biosynthesis-activating neuropeptide], suboesophageal ganglion neuropeptides, pyrokinins.
