Fetidins

[Fetidin]

Collective term for two proteins (40 and 45 kDa) with antibacterial, hemolytic and hemagglutinating activities produced by coelomocytes and chloragocytes and found in the coelomic fluid of the earthworm Eisenia fetida andrei (Milochau et al, 1997; Koenig et al, 2003). CL(39) identified by Koenig et al (2003) in coelomocyte lysate is Fetidin. An alternative designation for Fetidin is LRP-2 [Lysenin-related protein-2] (see also: Lysenin).

Lassegues et al (1997) have cloned the cDNA, which encodes a protein of 40 kDa and 34 kDa (nonglycosylated protein). The sequence of the cDNA contains a peroxidase signature ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
