[GRB2-associated binder 2; GRB2-associated binding protein 2] GAB2 is an adaptor and docking protein that has been identified originally as a protein that becomes tyrosine phosphorylated when M-CSF binds to its receptor, fms (Nishida et al, 1999). The protein is a member of a protein family of adaptor and docking proteins involved in multiple signaling pathways initiated by ligands binding to receptors with protein tyrosine kinase activities and other receptors (Liu and Rohrschneider, 2002; Hibi and Hirano, 2000). GAB2 has been identified independently as KIAA0571.
GAB2 contains a pleckstrin homology domain and potential binding sites for SH2 and SH3 domains
