[galactoprotein B3] GAP-B3 is one member of a group of glycoproteins of fibroblast cell membranes showing enhanced expression in association with oncogenic transformation (Carter and Hakomori, 1977). Tsuji et al (1990) have purified the protein from hamster fibroblasts (NIL cells) transformed with polyoma virus and cloned the cDNA. GAP-B3 consists of two polypeptide chains that seem to be proteolytic cleavage products connected by disulfide bonds from a precursor protein. Enhanced expression of protein is observed in transformed cells and appears to be due to increased transcription of its message. Tsuji et al (1991) have cloned the human homolog of GAP-B3 cDNA
