[germ cell-dependent phosphoprotein-1] This protein has been identified as a rapidly phosphorylated protein in cultures of Sertoli cells treated with freshly isolated, intact germ cells or conditioned medium obtained from these cells (Ireland and Welsh, 1987). The protein is identical with one of the phosphorylated forms of hsp27 (hsp27c) (Pittenger et al, 1992).
