[Gastric cancer MDR cell-specific binding peptide 1] This peptide with the sequence ETAPLSTMLSPY has been identified through phage display library screening by Kang et al (2013). The peptide specifically binds to the surface of multidrug-resistant gastric cancer cells and reverses the drug resistant phenotypes, re-sensitizing multidrug-resistant cellsto a variety of chemotherapeutic agents. GRP78 has been identified as a receptor for the peptide. Pre-incubation of multidrug-resistant cells with the peptide greatly diminishes the expression of MDR1, BCL2 and GRP78 and increases the expression of BAX.
