[G-protein-coupled receptor-44] This G-protein-coupled receptor has been isolated by Marchese et al (1999). The receptor is related closely to other receptors for chemokines. GPR44 mRNAs are found primarily in brain tissues and also in hear, various tissues of the digestive tract, fetal liver, leukocytes, and thymus (Sawyer et al, 2002; Abe et al, 1999). Endogenous expression has been observed also in two cell lines of eosinophils, butyric acid-differentiated HL-60 and AML 14.3D10 (Sawyer et al, 2002).
The receptor is known also as CRTH2 [chemoattractant receptor-homologous molecule expressed on Th2 cells]. It was identified as a protein expressed selectively on Th2 cells
