[G-protein-coupled receptor-75] GPR75 is a member of the family of G-protein-coupled receptors. The human gene has been cloned by Tarttelin et al (1999).
Ignatov et al (2006) have reported that GPR75, which has very limited homology with classical chemokine receptors, acts as an atypical receptor for the inflammatory chemokine CCL5 (RANTES). The authors have suggested that this ligand / receptor pair may contribute to neuro-inflammatory and neurodegenerative processes as observed in Alzheimer's disease, showing that treatment with CCL5 of the hippocampal cell line HT22, which expresses GPR75 endogenously, significantly reduces the neurotoxicity of amyloid-beta
