[growth regulated oncogene-beta] This factor belongs to the family of chemotactic cytokines called chemokines. It is identical with MGSA (melanoma growth stimulatory activity). The product is called also MIP-2-alpha (see: MIP). The new designation is CXCL2.
King et al (2000) have isolated an N-terminally truncated form of GRO-beta (designated also GRO-betaT; see also: HSF hematopoietic synergistic factor) from bone marrow stromal cells treated with a synthetic immunomodulatory peptide (see: SB-251353).
