abbr. GPF (a term with multiple meanings). This biochemically uncharacterized factor of 60-160 kDa is produced by human T-cell hybridomas derived from the T-cells of a patient with mammal change nephrotic syndrome (MCNS). Intravenous injection of this factor into rats induces proteinuria. In cultures of normal human lymphocytes GPF enhances Concanavalin-A induced blastogenesis in lymphocytes. GPF is cytotoxic to tumor cell lines of epithelial origin, but only cytostatic to tumor cells of hematopoietic origin (see also: hematopoiesis).
