abbr. GPF (a term with multiple meanings). A 70 kDa factor produced by rat vascular smooth muscle cells (Nakano et al, 1995). It is the ligand of a receptor tyrosine kinase designated axl. GPF is identical with gas-6 (see: gas genes) and is called also axl stimulatory factor. GPF specifically potentiates cell proliferation mediated by Calcium ion-mobilizing receptors.
