[gasdermin A3] (the name is an acronym from gastrointestinal and dermal) This gene is known also as Gsdm3 [gasdermin-3], which is one of the gasdermins. The mouse gene, together with related genes, has been identified by Tamura et al (2007). Expression is restricted to the epithelium of the skin and gastrointestinal tract in a highly tissue-specific manner. Gsdma3 is necessary for normal hair follicle differentiation (Li et al, 2010).
