HESS-5
This murine stromal cell line permits the expanion of human umbilical cord blood stem cells and progenitor cells (see also: hematopoiesis), especially CD34(+) CD38(-) cells, in the presence of human recombinant cytokines (thrombopoietin, flt-3 ligand, SCF, G-CSF, IL3, IL6) (Ando et al, 2000; Kawada et al, 1999; Shimakura et al, 2000). HESS-5 cells can be used to support the rapid and sustained generation of primitive myeloid cells that can develop into functional dendritic cells
