ISAMP

[Ixodes scapularis Antimicrobial Peptide] This antimicrobial peptide (46 amino acids) has been identified in the saliva of the tick Ixodes scapularis. The amino acid sequence does not show conserved domain motifs. The gene encoding ISAMP is expressed in hemocytes, fat body, and salivary gland but not in the midgut (Pichu et al, 2009) and may play a role in innate immunity.
