Imcroporin

Imcroporin (FFSLLPSLIGGLVSAIKamide) is an antimicrobial peptide isolated from the cDNA library of the venomous gland of the scorpion Isometrus maculates (Zhao et al, 2009). The MIC of Imcroporin against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus is 50 microgram/mL, 8-fold lower than cefotaxime and 40-fold lower than penicillin. Imcroporin kills bacteria rapidly in vitro, and inhibits the bacterial growth and cures infected mice.
