abbr. IDGF (a term with multiple meanings). This growth factor was isolated from the conditioned medium of NIH Sape 4, an embryonic cell line of the flesh fly (Sarcophaga peregrina) (Homma et al, 1996). IDGF is found also in unfertilized mature eggs of the flesh fly. IDGF stimulates the proliferation of NIH Sape 4 cells in an autocrine manner.
IDGF is a homodimeric protein with subunits of 52 kDa (553 amino acids). The protein shows no significant homology to other known growth factors but is related to AGSA (atrial gland granule specific antigen) of Aplysia californica (sea hare) and TSGF [
