This antimicrobial peptide (DSMGAVKLAKLLIDKMKCEVTKAC) has been isolated from the Chinese torrent frog Amolops jingdongensis (Chen et al, 2012). The peptide shows no sequence relationship to other known antimicrobial peptides. The peptide shows broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity to standard and clinically isolated strains of bacteria. It exhibits weak hemolytic activity to human and rabbit erythrocytes and acts as an anticancer peptide that is cytotoxic for K562 and HT29 mammalian cell lines. The peptide also shows low anti-oxidant activity.
