one-letter code for the amino acid sequence Lys-Phe-Glu-Arg-Gln. This sequence appears to be involved in targeting cytosolic proteins for lysosomal degradation (Dice, 1988). Transport of these proteins into lysosomes in vitro is stimulated by ATP and one of the heat shock proteins (hsc73) (Olson et al, 1991).
