KR20 peptide (KINATDADEPNTLNSKISYR; Lys-Ile-Asn-Ala-Thr-Asp-Ala-Asp-Glu-Pro-Asn-Thr-Leu-Asn-Ser-Lys-Ile-Ser-Tyr-Arg) is derived from an epitope, termed KC21 peptide, recognised by a monoclonal antibody directed against one of the extracellular domains of Desmoglein-2, a major component of desmosomes (Lu et al, 2019).
The peptide is most potent in suppressing the formation of tube-like structures by endothelial colony-forming cells. KR20 peptide also attenuates migration but does not disrupt viability and proliferation of endothelial colony-forming cells, consistent with the function to inhibit activation of p38 MAPK
