[KH type-splicing regulatory protein; K-homology splicing regulator protein] approved gene symbol: KHSRP. The protein has been identified independently as FBP2 [FUSE-binding protein 2], so named after its ability to bind to the far upstream element (FUSE) of the human myc proto-oncogene, which stimulates expression in undifferentiated cells (Davis-Smyth et al, 1996). The protein is being referred to also as FUBP2 [Far upstream element-binding protein 2].
