LAP proteins

[LRR-And-PDZ-proteins] The LAP has nothing to do with LAP [liver activator protein], LAP1, or LAP2 and various acronyms for enzymes of the same name.

These proteins contain variable numbers of an LRR domain and a PDZ domain. Members of this protein family have a crucial function in epithelial architecture and epithelial homeostasis, which was discovered first in non-vertebrates (Caenorhabditis elegans and Drosophila melanogaster).
