[mitocryptide-ND2] This peptide, Formyl-MNPLAQPVIY, is a so-called mitocryptide (see also: cryptides). The peptide is derived from the N-terminus of the parent protein, which is MT-ND2 [NADH-ubiquinone oxidoreductase chain 2], known also as NADH dehydrogenase 2 or NADH-ubiquinone oxidoreductase chain 2, a core subunit of the mitochondrial membrane respiratory chain NADH dehydrogenase (Complex I). The peptide shows weak activity in cell activation of neutrophils. It activates NADPH oxidase but gives rise to a very low level of superoxide release. MCT-ND2 induces a dose-dependent migration of neutrophils. The peptide is thought to act through FPR1 [
