MH60-BSF-2

A murine hybridoma cell line producing monoclonal antibodies (mAb) specific to human IL6. MH60-BSF-2 cells produce IgM chi type mAb (alpha BSF-2-60) unable to neutralize IL6 activity. The cell line depend on IL6 for its in vitro growth and are used to assay this factor (see also: bioassays, cytokine assays). The activity of IL6 is determined by measuring the incorporation of tritiated thymidine into the newly synthesized DNA of the proliferating cells. Cell proliferation can be determined also by employing the MTT assay.
