[matrix metalloproteinase-14] According to a numerical nomenclature for matrix metalloproteinases this is the new name for MT1-MMP [Membrane-type matrix metalloproteinase-1] Also: MT-MMP-1. This protein is one of the matrix metalloproteinases that exists in a membrane-bound rather than a secreted form (Sato et al, 1994). The human gene maps to chromosome 14q12.2. The gene has been cloned by Sato et al (1994), who referred to it as MMP-X1.
