[Mitogen-regulated protein-3] MRP-3 is related to the mitogen-regulated proteins (see: MRP/PLF) and is being referred to also as PLF3 [proliferin-3] (Connor et al, 1989; Fassett et al, 2001). Soares et al (2007) have proposed the designation Prl2c4 [prolactin family 2 subfamily C member 4] for this protein as it is a member of the family of PRL-like proteins that act as circulating hormones and cytokines. The protein is expressed in the placenta (Fang et al (1999) and in the brain (Wang et al, 2006).
