abbr. MNCF (a term with multiple meanings). This biochemically uncharacterized factor of 54 kDa is produced by rat peritoneal macrophages stimulated with bacterial lipopolysaccharides. It induces migration of neutrophils that is not blocked by glucocorticoids (see also: Chemotaxis). MNCF is probably not identical with IL1-beta (see: IL1), IL6, IL8, or TNF-alpha (Dias-Baruffi et al, 1993).
