This amidated peptide, GFGMALKLLKKVLamide (also: Macropin-1) has been identified in the venom of the solitary bee Macropis fulvipes (Monincová et al, 2014). Macropin exhibits antimicrobial activity against both Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria, antifungal activity. It shows moderate hemolytic activity against human red blood cells and acts an an anticancer peptide that is cytotoxic for a number of different human cell types (Slaninová et al, 2012).
