[protease nexin-1]; abbr. PN-1. The protein is being referred to also as SERPINE2 [serpin peptidase inhibitor clade E member 2]. Nexin-1 is a Heparin binding glycoprotein (see also: HBGF) of 44 kDa released by human foreskin fibroblasts and cultured glial cells. The protein is present also on the surface of fibroblasts, bound to the extracellular matrix. PN-1 represents about 1 % of their secreted proteins.
