[oocyte-secreted protein-1] The cDNA encoding Oosp1 has been cloned by Yan et al (2001). Murine Oosp1 (181 amino acids) is a protein of unknown function secreted by oocytes. Oosp1 mRNA is present at high levels in the oocytes of adult ovaries and at lower levels in the spleen and liver.
Tremblay et al (2006) have cloned the bovine homolog of Oosp1 and described two splice variants, one of which is only 35 amino acids in length. In contrast to the murine gene, bovine Oosp1 is expressed exclusively in oocytes. mRNA levels are high in germinal vesicle stage oocytes and gradually decrease until the blastocyst
