OvASP-2

[Onchocerca volvulus Ancylostoma secreted protein-2]. This protein is a homolog of Ancylostoma secreted protein. It is expressed in Onchocerca volvulus microfilaria, the stage of the parasite that causes ocular onchocercaisis. The protein has been shown to induce new blood vessel formation. The protein does not stimulate proliferation or production of VEGF in vascular endothelial cells in vitro, indicating that OvASP-2 does not directly stimulate angiogenesis (Higazi et al, 2003).
