[Placental Leucine Aminopeptidase]. The approved gene symbol is LNPEP [Leucyl-Cystinyl Aminopeptidase; also simply Cystinyl Aminopeptidase]. The cDNA has been cloned by Rogi et al (1996) and Laustsen et al (1997), and the gene has been characterised by Horio et al (1999) and Rasmussen et al (2000).
In the enzyme catalogue the enzyme has been given the designation EC3.4.11.3. The protein belongs to the family of zinc metallopeptidases (Rogi et al, 1996).
The protein has been described independently as mouse IRAP [Insulin-regulated membrane aminopeptidase; Insulin-responsive aminopeptidase;
