PCSK9

[Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9] also: PC9 [Proprotein convertase 9]. The cDNA has been cloned by Abifadel et al (2003). PCSK9 is a secreted protein expressed mainly in liver, kidney, intestine, and central nervous system. PCSK9 has been found in serum and also in cerebrospinal fluid. Cerebrospinal fluid concentrations are considerably lower than in plasma or serum (Chen YQ et al, 2014). Unlike plasma and serum levels (Chen YW et al, 2014; Perrson et al, 2010; Laskoki et al, 2009), which show great diurnal variations, cerebrospinal fluid levels are fairly constant throught the day.
