[plasmacytoma growth factor] also abbr. PGF (a term with multiple meanings). This factor, purified from conditioned medium of murine P388D1 cells (derived from macrophages), was described initially as a protein promoting the growth of plasmacytoma cell lines (see for example: T1165) (Nordan and Potter, 1986; Nordan et al, 1989).Withdrawal of the factor leads to an arrest of cells in the G1 phase of the cell cycle.
