[platelet-derived growth factor-D] PDGF-D is a dimeric protein and therefore is being referred to also as PDGF-DD. PDGF-D is known also as Iris-expressed growth factor (IEGF). PDGF-D is related to PDGF and PDGF-C (LaRochelle et al, 2001) and is known also as SCDGF-B [Spinal cord-derived growth factor-B]. Expression of PDGF-D in the eye is tissue-specific. In the anterior segment it is localized to iris and ciliary body while in the retina, PDGF-D is restricted to the outer plexiform layer.
