[pre-ecdysis-triggering hormone] PETH from Manduca secta (SFIKPNNVPRV) is encoded by the same gene that also encodes the neurohormone ETH [ecdysis triggering hormone] and ETH-AP [ETH-associated peptide] (Zitnan et al, 1999). Zitnan et al (1999) have shown that PETH appears in the hemolymph during the ecdysis behavioural sequence.
Ecdysteroids induce nervous system sensitivity to PETH, and a decline of ecdysteroids is required for peptide release and behavioral onset. PETH, like ETH, is released from Inka cells. Both hormones
