This antimicrobial peptide, EVASFDKSKLK, from the coelomocyte cytosol of the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus corresponds to the 9-19 fragment of thymosin-beta of P. lividus (thymosin-beta(9-19); see also: thymic hormones). Synthetic Paracentrin 1 has been shown to be active against planktonic form of staphylococcal strains (reference and isolates) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 15442 and can inhibit biofilm formation of staphylococcal and Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains (Schillaci et al, 2014).
