This peptide with the sequence RIRDAIAHGYIVDKV is derived from shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei Hemocyanin (Liu et al, 2018). The peptide has activity as an anticancer peptide and significantly inhibits the proliferation of human cervical (HeLa), human hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2), and human esophageal cancer (EC109) cancer cell lines, but not normal liver cell lines by inducing changes indicative of cell death by apoptosis.
