see: PrGF. Three principal families of growth factors appear to be potentially involved in the development of benign prostatic hypertrophy: EGF, FGF, and TGF-beta. PGF is called also BGF (bone growth factor) and is identical with bFGF. Other factors with PGF activity described in the literature compete with EGF for binding to the EGF receptor. These proteins are different processed forms of EGF or identical with EGF.
